- First husband was folk singer/guitarist Randy Sparks, who founded the ten-member group "New Christy Minstrels." Jackie sang with Randy and another male performer in a "Peter, Paul & Mary" set-up just prior to the "Minstrels" formation.
- Gayle left the folk group with another singing female member, Gayle Caldwell, in early 1964 to form the duo "Jackie and Gayle." The duo never had any "top 40" hits but hung in together into the late 60s until Gayle went solo. They appeared together on TV variety ("The Andy Williams Show") and even acted in beach party and ski party flicks.
