- Spent three weeks rehearsing classical Indian Dance with guru Protima Gauri on the edge of Bangalore, India, in preparation for her role as Princess Tara in Kama Sutra: A Tale of Love (1996)
- Was the first Caucasian actress (half-Indian and half-English) to do a love scene with future Best Actor winner Denzel Washington, in Mississippi Masala (1991) Many female African-American fans of Mr. Washington were angered over his love scenes with Milla Jovovich in He Got Game (1998) believing (rightly or wrongly) that he had promised never to do an interracial love scene in a film. However, his role in 'Masala' precedes 'He Got Game' by six years, though his love scenes with Miss Choudhury went largely unnoticed, perhaps because few people think of South Asians as Caucasian (which most, in fact, are).
